What will you learn in the PADI Open Water course?
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three parts: theory, exercises in shallow water, and diving. Here we explain what to expect.
Theory - eLearning
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you prepare for the course using eLearning. From the comfort of your home, or even from a plane, you independently work through five exciting chapters on the topic of diving. The interactive eLearning format provides ideal preparation for your course. You'll learn which exercises will be performed, why certain exercises are necessary, and also a great deal about the underwater world!
Pool-like conditions
The PADI Open Water Diver course is structured so that you first practice the exercises in shallow water with your instructor before going on a dive. But we know why you're taking this course – because you want to dive! That's why we've designed our course to give you a great balance between shallow water exercises and diving. You can find out more about the course structure a little further down.
Dive
During your course, you'll complete a total of four dives. The first two dives will take place to a maximum depth of 12 meters, while dives three and four will go a bit deeper – up to a maximum of 18 meters. Your dive instructor will be with you at all times. The dives are designed to help you gain experience and get used to the underwater world. You'll also have the opportunity to practice some of the skills you've already mastered in shallow water.
Course schedule
Day 1 - Open Water Course
On the first day, we start at 9:00 AM and get to know each other. During a relaxed briefing in our lounge, we'll review the most important points from the theory and answer any remaining questions. After that, we'll get right to the practical part. Together, we'll learn how to assemble and check the diving equipment. Once we're satisfied, we'll head to Green Bay. Green Bay offers ideal conditions for starting our first exercises in shallow water. After a short lunch break, it's time for our first dive! With a bit of luck, we might even encounter seahorses or sea turtles. We'll end the day around 5:00 PM.
Day 2 - Open Water Course
Meeting point at 9:00 AM. Today, with some assistance from the dive instructor, you'll assemble your equipment independently. Afterwards, we'll return to Green Bay for the second part of our shallow water training. Here, you'll also have the opportunity to repeat exercises from the previous day, if desired. After another short lunch break, we'll begin our second dive. We'll be back at the dive center around 5:00 PM.
Day 3 - Open Water Course
We'll meet again at the dive center around 9:00 AM. Today is going to be an exciting day! After you've assembled your equipment, we'll head out – this time to the Cyclops! A fantastic dive site in a marine reserve. There are two dives planned, the first of which will take you down to 18 meters. A truly amazing feeling! The first dive will also include a few more exercises. The second dive is for practicing any exercises you're not quite comfortable with yet, and simply for diving!
At around 3 PM you did it! You are now a PADI Open Water Diver!
