Why we love this spot
De Costa Bay is where tourist boats gather and, unfortunately, where turtles are illegally fed. We frequently visit this spot for our sea turtle project and our Dive Against Debris dives. We've also taken this location under our protection with Adopt the Blue!
It's ideal for beginners, as it has a small underwater area for practicing buoyancy control. You can also often spot turtles here. Around July, De Costa Bay also becomes a nursery for many small baby fish, such as barracudas 😄
Crew Tip!
A late afternoon dive here is ideal. Unfortunately, the tourist boats usually feed the turtles. By late afternoon, the boats have left, leaving the turtles behind, often at the surface!
