OCEAN LOVE

Oceancare in Cyprus - Our Projects

We are more than just a dive center. We are actively committed to protecting the ocean and promoting a sustainable diving industry. We put this into practice through PADI’s 3 Pillars of Change. On this page, you can learn more about our efforts and initiatives to reduce our negative impact and give back to the ocean as much as possible. Because if the ocean dies, humanity dies too.

Mobilize a billion PADI Torchbearers to explore and protect the oceans.

Our 3 Ocean Love pillars

Find out how we put the three pillars of change into practice at our diving centre.

OCEAN CONSERVATION

Our direct efforts to protect the sea here in Cyprus. These include our sea turtle project, Xenios, as well as our regular PADI Dive Against Debris dives.

SUSTAINABLE DIVING

Among other things, this involves training environmentally conscious divers and minimising our negative impact on the environment as much as possible.

PEOPLE & HUMANITY

Zur Nachhaltigkeit gehört auch der Mensch. Wir setzen uns für faire Arbeitsbedingungen in der Tauchbranche ein und sind klar gegen Diskriminierung. Unter Wasser sprechen wir alle die selbe Sprache.

PROJECT XENIOS - Sea turtles in Cyprus

The aim of the Xenios project is to establish a database on sea turtles around Cyprus in order to monitor their behaviour and understand the impact of tourism, thereby enabling important conservation measures to be taken.

DIVE AGAINST DEBRIS - Clean Up diving in Cyprus

Every Friday afternoon we go on a clean-up dive, which you’re welcome to join us on.

The marine litter collected is analysed and recorded in PADI AWARE’s global marine litter database.

GREEN FINS MEMBER - Reduce our impact

We at Cyprus Diving Centre are a Green Fins member. As such, we are committed to regularly reviewing our sustainability practices and taking measures such as advising guests not to apply sun cream before diving, or to use only reef-friendly sun cream.

SUSTAINABLE COURSES - You’re the next marine conservationist

Sustainability and marine conservation are key themes in all our PADI courses. We also offer a range of PADI AWARE courses, such as the PADI Dive Against Debris course. A particular highlight is our own PADI Mediterranean Sea Turtle Specialty course.

WELCOME - Underwater, we all speak the same language

Everyone is welcome here and treated equally. We are strongly opposed to discrimination and strive to achieve gender balance within our team. With Daniel and Tamara as owners, the diving school is run on a 50/50 basis by a woman and a man.
