PADI Rescue Diver Course

Probably the most worthwhile course for non-professionals.

In our opinion, the PADI Rescue Diver course is the best of all non-professional courses. You not only learn how to help others, but also a great deal about yourself. Admittedly, this course can make you sweat a bit, but it's also incredibly fun.

At the beginning, we'll review some skills from your PADI Open Water Diver and EFR courses . Then, over approximately two days, you'll learn how to prevent problems, become an even safer diver, and, most importantly, how to help other divers. We'll spend a lot of time in the water, as well as on the beach and in the pool. We won't be doing any actual dives in this course – but we'll still use plenty of air! :-)

The PADI Rescue Diver course:

Shore rescue: The most important thing when rescuing a victim is always to avoid endangering yourself. Therefore, you should always choose the safest rescue method. Here, we practice in various situations how you can help someone from the shore or a boat without putting yourself at risk.

Surface assistance: Here we practice, among other things, how to approach a panicked diver at the surface or how to react to an unconscious person and begin first aid in the water. These exercises are a lot of fun and very important at the same time. Again, never put yourself in danger.

Underwater rescue: How do you search for a missing diver? How do you bring an unconscious diver to the surface? Should you leave the patient's regulator in their mouth or remove it? We'll answer all these questions and more in these exercises.

First aid for diving accidents: Diving accidents are very rare if you follow the instructions. But if one does happen, every second can count. Therefore, we will practice how to properly contact emergency services and how to provide first aid to a diver after a diving accident. You already know much of this from your EFR course , which you completed at the beginning of this course. Now, however, we will delve deeper into the topic of diving accidents.

Final Scenario: At the end of this course, you will need to practice an accident scenario to put everything you've learned into practice. Your dive instructor will tell you exactly what you need to do.

Further information

How do I get to you?

You have several options. There is free parking directly in front of our dive center, and a bus station is a 2-minute walk away. We can also pick you up from your accommodation in the Paralimni, Protaras, and Ayia Napa area. There is a small additional charge for this service.

What will I learn in the theory course for the Rescue Diver course, and is there an exam?

In the theory portion, you'll learn, among other things, how to recognize stress and other causes that can lead to accidents. The PADI Rescue Diver course also includes a final multiple-choice exam.

Do I need my own equipment?

No, of course not. You don't need to buy or bring any equipment. However, if you already have your own equipment, you can benefit from a 10% discount on your course. With us, though, all the equipment you need is included in the course price.

Do I have to take the preceding EFR course with you?

If you have already completed a first aid course that is no more than two years old and recognized by PADI, you don't necessarily need to take an EFR course. However, we highly recommend it, as you can never take this course too often.

However, if you decide not to take an EFR course, please let us know the details of the course, as we need to check with PADI whether your license will be recognized.

How many dives are there in the Rescue Diver course?

We spend a lot of time in the water. However, during the Rescue Diver course, you can't really call them dives, as we frequently surface and dive. Therefore, these dives are generally not logged as dives in the logbook.
