Diving with Enriched Air
PADI NITROX COURSE
Course Overview
It's clear that diving with Nitrox (EAD = Enriched Air Diving) is becoming increasingly popular. The biggest advantages of diving with oxygen-enriched air are that you can extend your no-decompression limits and shorten your surface intervals.
Many people also mention that it makes them less tired and improves their concentration – but this is likely a personal experience. To dive with Nitrox, you need this course, as you won't be able to get Nitrox tanks otherwise, and even if you do, absolutely do not dive with them. There are a few things to keep in mind. You can also integrate this course into your PADI Advanced Diver course.
What you will learn in the course
The theory of "longer dives"
You understand why less nitrogen in the breathing gas means your body absorbs less of it. The result: your no-decompression limit increases significantly. This means you can stay underwater longer on repetitive dives than divers using regular air.
Handling oxygen analysis
This is the most important practical part:
You will learn how to measure the oxygen content in your diving cylinder using an oxygen analyzer .
You will learn how to correctly label the bottle (Nitrox sticker/tag).
We'll show you how to switch your dive computer to NITROX.
Security Management & Depth Limits
Oxygen becomes toxic under high pressure at a certain depth. You will learn:
To calculate the maximum operating depth (MOD) for your gas mixture.
To set your dive computer to the respective oxygen percentage value.

underwater
No dives are mandatory in the PADI Nitrox course, as it focuses on pre- and post-dive skills. Therefore, we simulate a dive. However, this course can be excellently combined with other courses such as the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or PADI Open Water Diver.
