Why we love this spot
The wreck of the Zenobia is undoubtedly one of the best wrecks in the world and certainly one of the best dive sites in the Mediterranean! The Zenobia sank in June 1980 after a technical failure (official version – we'll tell you the unofficial one). Over 120 vessels were on board, including 23 from Austria.
Fortunately, no people were injured in the disaster, but two horses perished, and their bones can still be seen today. A shipment of eggs was also on board. A few eggs can still be found on the seabed (only accessible with deep diver certification).
The Zenobia is the largest diveable wreck in the Mediterranean and should definitely be on your diving bucket list!
To dive the Zenobia, we travel from Protaras to Larnaca in the morning, where we then board a boat. After about a 10-minute ride, we arrive at the wreck.
. ... After the first dive, we'll have a surface interval of approximately 1.5 hours before preparing for the second dive. Following the second dive, there will be a buffet lunch on board and plenty of time to discuss the dives.
Crew Tip!
Take your PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course at Zenobia and dive into the past. Penetration dives at Zenobia are simply breathtaking! Ideally combined with sidemount diving and a DPV!
