PADI DPV Diver

Discover the underwater world with speed

Imagine: Instead of struggling to swim with fins, you glide across the reef on an underwater scooter—faster, farther, and with much less effort. The PADI DPV course teaches you exactly that: how to dive safely and efficiently with a Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV).

What you will learn in the course

  • Safe handling of the DPV: You will learn how an underwater scooter works, how to properly prepare, maintain and transport it.

  • Dive planning with DPV: Planning dives using a scooter — including buddy system, air and gas management, navigation and safe ascents and descents.

  • DPV handling underwater: You will practice maneuvering with DPV, controlled descents and ascents, correct buoyancy control, and appropriate technique for different situations.

  • Problem identification and handling: The course includes how to deal with potential problems (e.g., scooter malfunctions) and how to react safely.

PADI DPV Course:

Theory: You can complete the theory portion in advance using PADI eLearning.

Equipment: Diving equipment, DPV, tank, and weights are included in the course. You will complete the course using one of our five new Nemo DPVs from SUEX. If you bring your own BCD, make sure it has a crotch strap D-ring or a similar attachment point.

Diving: Two open-water dives with a DPV under the supervision of a PADI Instructor. You will practice handling, navigation, buddy procedures, and emergency scenarios.

Why DPV — Your Advantages

  • Greater range underwater: With a scooter you can cover larger areas, reach distant reefs or wrecks — and do so in less time.

  • Less effort, more air: Since you kick far less, you save energy and air — ideal for longer or more relaxed dives.

  • New diving experiences: Whether large reefs, deep wall dives, or extended coastlines — a DPV gives you access to dive sites that are harder or less efficient to reach using fins alone.

Further information

How do I get to you?

You have several options. There is free parking directly in front of our dive center, and a bus station is a 2-minute walk away. We can also pick you up from your accommodation in the Paralimni, Protaras, and Ayia Napa area. There is a small additional charge for this service.

Do I need my own equipment?

No, of course not. You don't need to buy or bring any equipment. However, if you already have your own equipment, you can benefit from a discount on your course. With us, though, all the equipment you need is included in the course price.
