Your PADI Sidemount course:
Theory: You can work through the theory beforehand using PADI eLearning. This will teach you the theoretical basics of sidemount diving.
Equipment: Sidemount diving uses a new type of diving equipment. The first day is primarily about familiarizing yourself with the new equipment and adjusting it to your needs. As an xDeep dealer, we can also help you design your own xDeep sidemount harness, tailored to your exact specifications.
Diving: The course consists of 4 dives.
Dive 1 (Confined Open Water): This first dive takes place in a pool or a sheltered, shallow bay. The focus here is on the correct assembly of the equipment, entering the water, and basic skills. You will practice putting on and taking off the tanks underwater, as well as changing the regulator, for example.
Dive 2 (Open Water): After getting used to the water in shallow water, you'll embark on your first dive in the open sea. Here you'll learn to perfect your buoyancy control and trim with the sidemount equipment and to control your movements. The goal is to develop a feel for your new underwater weight and balance.
Dive 3 (Open Water): In this dive, you will further develop your skills. You will practice managing two cylinders during a dive, including efficient cylinder swapping and proper gas planning. The goal is to make handling the equipment routine.
Dive 4 (Open Water): On the final dive, you will demonstrate the skills you have learned in a simulated environment. This dive is the grand finale, allowing you to fully concentrate on diving while your equipment fits perfectly and you enjoy the benefits of the new configuration.
